Trinka is a midwife, mother, educator, and medical ethicist. She was honored to share in the lives of medically underserved women in Pennsylvania and Michigan for more than thirty-five years and to catch more than two thousand babies. After retiring from clinical practice, she led a hospital-wide quality and safety initiative for two years in Madinah, Saudi Arabia. Her life-long goal has been universal access to high quality care that is rooted in respect, engagement, and empowerment.

In retirement, Trinka helped to launch the organizational side of CHFC, and to form its initial board of directors. She also participates in the Community Advisory Board of Samaritan Hospice, the Virtua Hospital Ethics Committee, and the national Noninvasive Prenatal Testing Advisory Committee, and is on the Board of Directors for QARI: the Qur’an, Arabic, and Reflection Institute. Most recently she co-authored Producing Parenthood: Islamic Bioethical Perspectives & Normative Implications, which was published in The New Bioethics, February 2020.

Trinka is a graduate of Hahnemann University (AS, BS Health Sciences, Physician Assistant), University of Michigan (BS, MS Nursing, Nurse Midwifery), Madonna University (Doctorate in Nursing Practice), and the University of Chicago (Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Medical Ethics).
